Randomness in Paragraph Form

I spent part of the day installing programmable thermostats, in hopes of getting ahead of the higher prices for natural gas. One of the things I've learned is that though the periods are labeled Morning, Day, Evening and Night; You must map them from a 24-hour perspective because the less expensive models don't like it, if you set an AM time for night.

This morning I blogged about the debut of CNN Pipeline. The official launch is scheduled for 8am (Eastern), but the software and registration site is already available. They are offering a 99¢ daypass and there's a 14-Day Free Trial, if you go ahead and register. Though, you would have to commit to either a $2.95/mo or $24.95/yr subscription that'll start at the end of your free trial.

My first impression is "very spiffy" and though the feeds are really just screensavers at this moment, there is a produced headlines segment available, as are the videos from the CNN archives, commercial-free. Reportedly, all of the equipment for the "produced channel" is hi-def and the news update looks great. The mini mode is very small, but it works and is easily expandable. Today's schedule includes rolling coverage of Saddam's trial, Bush's plane taking-off and landing, remarks by Bush and Rumsfeld, a briefing from New Orleans and the UN's daily. There are also some other things listed and breaking news has been promised.

I'll have more thoughts about the service, once it's live and after I've watched for a while.

Update: Suddenly at 1:45am (Mountain), Saddam Hussein's trial appeared on one feed.
The sound overlap between the event and the interpreter makes things difficult.
